Riverbend is no longer open to the public

Riverbend is now metering in materials to prioritize the structural needs of the site. This transition is necessary due to delays related to our expansion.

For years, Riverbend has served Yamhill County as a strong local employer and community partner. We have provided recycling and safe disposal services as well as a strong and steady revenue stream of more than $1 million/year to Yamhill County.

Riverbend will continue to operate

To be clear, Riverbend is not closing. Long-term, the plan is to meter in soils and different types of waste as we prepare the outer slopes of the site for final cover. The outside slopes are best suited for soils rather than garbage because soils help with slope structure.

As customers and community members are aware, disposal space at Riverbend is constrained due to delays related to our expansion. Much of the usable space that remains is along the site’s outside slopes, which are best suited for soils rather than garbage. This transition positions Riverbend to accept soils as well as other materials while we address decisions about future operations.
