Elected officials from Newberg and Dundee celebrate upgrades to Waste Management Transfer Station in Newberg. Waste Management and Riverbend Landfill, Recycling Center and Green Energy Plant recently celebrated the $1.4 million upgrade of its Newberg Transfer Station and Recycling Center. The event was attended by elected officials, city and county staff, and key stakeholders, and served to illustrate the company’s commitment to a sustainable future. The improvements to the Newberg Transfer Station will make recycling easier and safer for the public. For commercial customers, the upgrade will make use of the facility faster and more efficient. Perhaps most importantly, the environment will benefit. The site’s new design will allow for diverting dry waste from the landfill and extracting more value from the waste stream. It will also improve how stormwater and leachate are managed, and increase energy efficiencies. |
